OxyMetrics Exercise Program - Frequently Asked Questions
When can I expect to see results with this exercise program? The first key to seeing results is to get started. Especially if it’s been a while since you’ve exercised regularly, you will want to be gentle with yourself at the start. Even so, many people say they notice a difference in the way they feel very quickly, like within a week. They notice a difference in the way they look in the mirror soon after, like within two weeks. And they begin to get comments from friends and loved ones shortly after, like within a month. Obviously, your results will depend on your starting point, and on your consistency.
The second key to seeing results is your own commitment. To get results with any weight loss or exercise program you’ve got to stick with it. OxyMetrics is no different. It’s a lot easier than most other exercise programs, but no different. The results are, ultimately, up to you.
Why an Program Manual (pdf format), and not a video? OxyMetrics is available to anybody, and it’s available quickly. The pdf format makes it available immediately. The pdf format is also printable, so you can take the exercise manual with you one page at a time, wherever you may go to workout.
Also, OxyMetrics is a stationary exercise. It involves only minimal, easy body movements. Most of the exercise benefit comes from doing an isometric stance, which focuses on engaging the muscles in a stationary position. Showing a room full of people standing still, doing doing power breathing in a focused isometric stance just doesn’t make for good video.
Can I do this exercise program if I am pregnant? Please be sure to check with your physician before starting OxyMetrics or any exercise program if you are pregnant. If you decide to begin OxyMetrics while pregnant, you can modify the stance and stretching exercises to minimize the impact on your body. You can do the power breathing with or without the isometrics, and you can stop immediately if there is any pain or discomfort. Please be sure to talk with your doctor before starting OxyMetrics.
Will this exercise program help me if I am extremely overweight (obese)? Yes, but if you have concerns about your health, or your ability to move comfortably, please check with your doctor first. As a low-impact workout, OxyMetrics involves very gentle body movements. It lends itself to starting slowly and working your way up to a vigorous workout. If you are severely overweight, the best thing to do is to start with a very few repetitions, perhaps only one, for the first few days, or even weeks. Then you can slowly add repetitions as you feel your strength returning. No matter how many isometric repetitions you choose to do, you can still do the power breathing techniques independently.
Can I really get into shape with a low-impact workout? Yes, you can, if you make a commitment to yourself. In our society, we seem to believe one of two things about exercise and weight loss. Either it is impossibly hard and involves sweating and pain, or it is impossibly easy and involves pills, patches, or surgeries. Neither extreme is necessary. You can get a great full-body workout without taking a pounding or taking pills. Will OxyMetrics turn you into world-class athlete? Probably not. But getting more oxygen to your system will stoke up your body’s metabolism, and doing proven isometric exercises will build strength in virtually ever muscle group in your body.
